Birthday Shenanigans in the Great ATX — Day Four

Tuesday - 20 May 2025

Compared to the day before, today was a more sedate day. In fact, the first part of the day was rather somber. One of Ariana's coworkers, a young man with a promising future and career trajectory, was killed in a car accident on Mother's Day. Caleb was very well loved by his colleagues, who wanted to honor his memory and to create a safe space for all to grieve and share memories.

The memorial service at the workplace's mansion was a very touching experience. And it really would have been disrespectful of me to be snapping away photos while others were trying to process through their grief and loss.

After the memorial service, a group of very close colleagues decided to go to the Mean-Eyed Cat Bar for the camaraderie that is often part of the grieving process. Here, it was OK for me to take photos. And I felt that I was performing a service by capturing memories for Ariana and her colleagues to enjoy.

No commentary is included with the bar photos.

After our return to Austin from Driftwood, I was grateful to change out of my cute dress into some "legs."

We were chilling at the apartment when Danny and their dogs Pelitos and Gizmo showed up.

Not only were Pelitos and Gizmo wearing cool matching vests, they also knew how to dance.
The evening activities were going to be more chill and more sedate. So we gathered up our supplies and headed out to the apartment complex's recreational area, where we were going to enjoy  Family Game Night. After all, there is a lot more to my Austin visit than speakeasies, finely curated craft cocktails, and high tea on a rolling double decker bus.

For Family Game Night, we played a rousing and hysterical game of Cards Against Humanity.

Megan was really cleaning up! She had an eerie talent for picking the correct sick and twisted answers.

Sunshine stopped by, and it was really very nice finally getting to meet her in person. Up until then, we were just friends on Facebook.

Gerard also showed up, and it was great seeing him!

Megan crushed us all in Cards Against Humanity!

It was my turn to ask the question, and here's what my fellow players thought of me.

Megan had to bail, but here's the rest of the game-playing gang.
